Address Many visitors come to China for its history and culture, concentrating on relics and artifacts from the purported 5,000 years of history. Here instead is a chance to see the 21st century culture of China, the so called Q generation. Originally a street devoted to costumes, instruments, and props for Cantonese opera, only one or two of this kind of shop remains, while the rest has been taken over by young fashion stores making it the place where many trends and fads are started. Unfortunately the current trends seem to have taken their Influences from street punk to bag lady. Spiky-haired teenagers puff on orange and strawberry cigarettes while others chomp on stinky fried tofu or even stinkier durian ice cream. Be prepared to feel very old! Description: |
